Recognizing self worth in people is a lot like observing some children behave, and determining they come from a very good home. Meaning, they are well mannered with a seeming direction in their life, speak well, and are respectful and considerate of others.
There is a sense in America that we’ve allowed disrespect of one another to become a normal part of our discourse/communication. Talk radio (since the 50’s and more intensely in the 90’s) and Fox News, since the mid-90’s, with a little assistance from their Republican friends, have made disrespect, rudeness, racism, bigotry, and dividing our country, characteristics to which we all should aspire. They put lipstick on this pig by tying it to a pseudo-patriotism ideology for an unnecessary war and greed through military contracts, tax cuts, hedge funds, offshore accounts, outsourcing, illegal immigration, and investments for a small percentage of Americans – the rich, oil companies, and corporate America participating as war profiteers.
This leads us back to what are the characteristics of one with self worth.
The percentage of those in the ranks of the rich, corporate America and government who have all four qualities, leaves a lot to be desired. They are too busy protecting their wealth, family, friends and cronies, their image, status and lack of self worth to care about their fellow man/woman. There is no sense of synchronicity with other citizens. These folks have been out to lunch when it comes to what’s happening to working and middle class citizens.
IT’S NOT A SIN TO BE RICH. IT’S A SIN IN HOW MUCH YOU LOSE YOURSELF TO BECOME THAT WAY.
Americans suffer from a misconception that the rich, corporate America and people in government are somehow better than they are. These people are just like you; no better or worse than you are. WHEN AMERICANS TRULY REALIZE WHAT THAT MEANS, WE WILL BE ASKING THEM TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE FOR BEING AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. This googie eyed admiration of these folks has led to the ripping off of average American taxpayer to the tune of trillions of dollars. That includes your social security, your healthcare, and your equity in these successful businesses that couldn't make their profits without OUR TAX DOLLARS. It’s time for people to wake up!
QUESTION EVERYTHING! THAT'S WHERE THE TRUTH RESIDES.
It’s also time for Americans to take off the rose colored glasses we wear in reviewing the rich, big business and government. It’s in this naivete that we’re losing our country through greed.
Jesus warned us..not to gain the world and lose our soul.
Mel, you know there are positives and negatives to everything. In
wealthier areas you will see well groomed homes & lawns but too often these
folks don't know their neighbors. Folks are too busy appearing to be
something they're not. Whereas in low income neighborhoods there can be a
friendliness among the people and a lot of envy too, which can be
problematic.
