AMERICAN INGENUITY IDOL FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL - ITS TIME HAS COME!

posted Monday, 5 May 2008

It’s time to take the concept of reality television to a whole…‘nother…level in solving the problems we face with a faltering economy, and a need to do things differently. It’s time for American Ingenuity Idol to help solve our alternative energy problems.

There was a time when our government counted on our colleges to do the research necessary to solve problems we had that science could address. This has changed since we’ve turned into a corporate driven society where big business pays for studies that confirm what they’re trying to promote. So truth in advertising has become distorted through spin by those looking to make money. The lobbyists of corporate America assure that they will get their way by buying off politicians looking for campaign contributions. The needs of Americans have been overlooked to insure certain folks make money.

If we can look for the best singers, dancers, models, lovers, marriage material, etc. in a nationwide search, we can certainly use the same approach to meeting challenges Americans are confronted with today. At this stage of the game, the less oil we use, the better. We use 25% of the world’s oil. Developing nations like China and India are coming on board needing lots of energy to grow a solid economy. No amount of oil we conserve will bring down the price of oil due to the need of developing nations.

There’s greed among oil producers and American oil companies, with the belief that what’s taking place in the industry is wonderful, with its record profits. They could care less about the American people who have helped them get to the position they’re in, through tax cuts. They certainly haven’t given us a break in the price and are requesting another $18 billion in tax cuts to search for new oil sources. The audacity of greed! Fade to black.

AMERICAN INGENUITY IDOL

The ingenuity of the American people is really the backbone of this nation. Our greatest resource is our U.S. citizens. We’ve been waiting for our politicians and government officials to recognize the wealth in this resource to solve the problems we have here, to no avail.

HOW WILL IT WORK? – First, we have a casting call for contestants who will submit ideas, for applications of alternative fuels in our society to a panel of a diversified group of engineers to review. The contestants can be individuals or teams and can come from anywhere: high school, college, business sector, and regular Americans.

Take the top 100 innovative ideas. Those ideas that appear to have solid application possibilities would be allowed to compete by creating and submitting prototypes of their ideas to be considered. These projects can use renewable sources of fuel as well as bio-fuels. This group would be whittled down, by the panel of engineers, eventually to 25 ideas based on the practicality and affordability of each project.

It’s at this phase of the process that the folks at home would start to become part of the process in witnessing just what these ideas can do. Once we have the top 25 ideas, application projects would be assigned to see how many ways these alternative fuels can be used, with viewers calling in choosing their favorite ideas. The top 5 ideas would be the winners earning money to get these ideas patented and implimented. I have no doubt this will be a hit on two fronts; alternative fuels and getting everyday citizens to particpate in changing our nation.

After seeing the success of such a program, we can create other reality shows like WHO WANTS TO BE A MANUFACTURER? IS THIS LAW ETHICAL? WHO DO YOU TRUST, GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE AMERICA, OR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? WHO CAN CREATE THE BEST CURRICULUM FOR OUR SCHOOLS? WHO’S GOT THE BEST PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE PROGRAM? Maybe you have a few suggestions.

It’s been said that THE ANSWERS TO, ALL OF OUR, PROBLEMS ARE RIGHT BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. We need to be more discerning and observant.  It’s in the ingenuity of average American citizens. We can’t let them shortchange us!

QUESTION EVERYTHING!  THAT'S WHERE THE TRUTH RESIDES.

Not a fan of American Idol. In fact, I think it's rather peculiar than an AMERICAN IDOL, is voted in, based on vocal talents. What does that have to do with patriotism? I know not..

But to cut to the chase, I believe this was rather genius, and showed an ingenuitive thought process :). I'd reckon it would work, rather well, considering the fact that most people rather watch TV than walk to a booth to vote.

But if you don't mind, I'd like to share one of my own thoughts. I don't think Corporations have to be a bad thing, considering, industrialization and corporations, have helped shape the American power. Although it's drastic, there should be a radical television takeover that demonstrates to the people why it's important to buy american and do so and so, opposed to that and that. Furthermore, incentives to big corporations, can be used, to help them stop internationally harlotting. As we learnt growing up, when we can't estroy our enemies....we work with them. Incentives, does not mean tax cuts. Incentives can be a wide array of things other than tax cuts. Demonstrating to them that they have a responsibility, since corporations are entities.

Mel, I agree, corporations don't have to be a bad thing. What you can't do with most big corporations is to let them act without oversight and regulations because few ever act responsibly on their own. When we de-regulate an industry, all you are doing is allowing events to occur against the best interests of the people. That's what we have today.

American companies aren't American - they're multi-nationals. We need to re-define what makes a company an American one. Just as American citizens have responsibilities to the country, these businesses appear to do what they like.

Businesses are not people and shouldn't be treated as such. A business cannot be sent to war. A business is not sent to jail. A business does not eat, sleep or have sex. Why the hell are we treating them as though they are human?

Our current giant businesses, represents one of the major flaws in human nature, which is allowing power to go to ones head.
